Finding my non-niche

Last year, the fabulous Thomas Pawley designed my new visual branding. And now that’s done, I have no choice but to leave my comfort zone and actually market myself online.

Haven’t really done much of this in the time I’ve been freelance –most of my work has come from word of mouth and repeat clients.

So I thought I’d explain how and why I made the decision to invent three copywriting non-niches and what it means for you.

Playful, uplifting and outdoorsy

Might as well get this out there now: I’m entering my midlife era and, with 20-odd years of professional writing experience under my belt, I’m getting choosier about the kind of brands I work with.

I’m happy working with companies that sit within a typically dull sector who wanna mix things up a bit and genuinely have desire to stand out by doing things differently, but I really cannot be arsed with corporate bollocks anymore –and I’ll admit that choosing my three niche areas was partly driven by a burning desire to repel companies who love talking shite.

So there’s that.

Next came the fun part –thinking about what life means to me. Bit deep? Maybe. But it worked. I wrote down every single joy in my life and most of what I listed fell into these three fabulous categories.

This means if your brand falls into one or more area (either naturally or by being shoehorned in in your own weird and wonderful way) you can be sure I’ll put my heart and soul into writing awesome copy for you that sounds great and does what it should.

More about my copywriting non-niches

Playful.

🧩 Fun-filled words for playful brands who wanna stand out with a bit of laughter and silliness.

Maybe you’re a bit silly because you’re a toy brand or a children’s clothing brand – or perhaps you’re playful with the language you use to stand out from the yawn-fest your competitors are going for with their product descriptions, microcopy or marketing emails.

Whatever your reason for embracing playful language, count me in.

Uplifting.

Joyful words for uplifting, feel-good brands: Healthy bodies. Open minds. Beautiful, inside & out.

Sometimes we need a little pick-me-up after a long day... And sometimes we need to rethink our life choices and make waaay more time for joy and self-care.

Whether yours is a little lift kinda brand like herbal tea, or one that helps someone feeling lost to find their way, like a yoga retreat, I’m here for it.

Outdoorsy.

🌳 Lush words for outdoorsy brands who use digital to connect people to the wonderful world around them.

If ‘stop the scroll’ to you means getting your audience off their devices and out into the world around them, I’ll help you make it happen.

Whether you’re an outdoor visitor attraction, a conservation charity, a nature-based enterprise (NBE), or an outdoor eCommerce company, I can help your brand flourish.

And there we have it. A quick overview of my non-niche rebrand. Just fill in my contact form if you need web copy, landing pages, case studies, blogs or emails for your playful, uplifting or outdoorsy brand.
